Undergrad project developed in the Fundació Miralles Workshop, 2013.

The Plaça Salvador Seguí is located in the Raval neighborhood, known for its diverse immigrant population . To enhance the area as a cultural and tourist hub, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona and the Film Library have recently opened there.

The main objective of the intervention is to make the square a connection point between the local residents, fostering a sense of belonging. Salvador Seguí, a notable figure in the labor movement, inspired the establishment of the Salvador Seguí Foundation for social work. To bridge residents with the city and Catalan culture, the proposal includes hosting events, such as Catalan language classes, facilitated by Casal del Raval, which supports underprivileged youth.

In terms of design, the furniture in the square is inspired by the catalan artist Joan Brossa’s "Poema visual transitante," blending letters from various alphabets to symbolize cultural integration and celebrate Catalonia's independence. Additionally, audiovisual elements will adorn the film library’s façade, featuring video mappings that depict Catalonia’s history and the significance of September 11. The urban furniture will consist of mobile metal and wicker benches, promoting playful arrangements and community engagement, ultimately creating an inclusive space that transcends physical and cultural barriers.

A Plaça Salvador Seguí está localizada no bairro do Raval, conhecido por sua população imigrante diversificada. Para fortalecer a área como um polo cultural e turístico, o Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Barcelona e a Cinemateca foram recentemente inaugurados no local.

O principal objetivo da intervenção é tornar a praça um ponto de conexão entre os moradores locais, fomentando um sentimento de pertencimento. Salvador Seguí, uma figura notável no movimento trabalhista, inspirou a criação da Fundação Salvador Seguí para o trabalho social. Para conectar os moradores à cidade e à cultura catalã, a proposta inclui a realização de eventos, como aulas de catalão, ministradas pelo Casal del Raval, que apoia jovens carentes.

Em termos de design, o mobiliário da praça é inspirado no "Poema visual transitante" do artista catalão Joan Brossa, que mistura letras de vários alfabetos para simbolizar a integração cultural e celebrar a independência da Catalunha. Além disso, elementos audiovisuais adornarão a fachada da cinemateca, apresentando mapeamentos em vídeo que retratam a história da Catalunha e o significado do 11 de setembro. O mobiliário urbano consistirá em bancos móveis de metal e vime, promovendo arranjos lúdicos e o engajamento da comunidade, criando, em última análise, um espaço inclusivo que transcende barreiras físicas e culturais.
